Description

It’s not every day that you see a vehicle that has style, power and toughness all in one package. The Jeep CJ5 is one of those rare vehicles. Designed as a civilian version of the military Jeep MB, Kaiser and Willys built the first prototypes in 1946. They didn’t differ much from the MBs, but they were equipped with unique design features that would last for decades. This included a body-on-frame construction, rigid solid axles with leaf springs and part-time 4x4 systems. The rounded front fenders were another design feature that proved popular. When driving through muddy and sandy backcountry, this design deflected dirt and debris away from the windshield, making it safer to drive. Jeeps may not be as common as they once were, but the CJ5 has a special place in many people's hearts. Some cars get bought, driven, sold and forgotten by their owners, while others become so ingrained in their identity that they are passed down through generations.
