The 2004 Toyota Tundra is a well-rounded pickup truck that offers great power, quality and a smooth ride. The 4.7-liter V8 engine provides a good balance of power and torque, enabling the Toyota to easily accelerate and pull from a dead stop or go around tight corners, while retaining its high fuel efficiency. The Tundra's automatic transmission is smooth and responsive, communicating well with the engine. The Tundra Double Cab features four side doors, and a 12.2-inch wheelbase. Off-road, the Tundra handles as well as any truck we've tested. It's able to nimbly negotiate deep mud holes without resorting to the low-range setting, which is a definite plus if you're hauling trailers. The Tundra also has a selectable driving mode that regulates wheelspin and helps you drive quietly over rough terrain. It's also equipped with the TRD Off-Road package, which includes Bilstein shocks and a skid plate.
