The Honda Fit comes to market with more interior space, sharper handling, enhanced seating functionality, a more powerful engine and a higher emphasis on safety. A small, agile subcompact hatchback suited to tight urban streets and freeways, the 2009 Honda Fit is easy to park, gets great gas mileage and has plenty of cargo room when both rear seats are folded down. It's also fun to drive, thanks to a sharp-handling engine and excellent steering feel. Powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is rated at 117 horsepower and 106 lb-ft of torque, the 2009 Honda Fit hits 60 mph in a scant 11.5 seconds with the automatic transmission. The Sport's automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available and improves the 0-60 time. The engine and transmission combine to provide the base Fit with fuel economy ratings of 27 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, which are quite good for this class of vehicle.
