The 2012 Ford Focus SE is an excellent choice if you're looking for a small sedan with sporty handling and a refined ride. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine pushes out 160 horsepower, making it more than enough for most drivers to get around in. It's mated to Ford's six-speed dual clutch transmission, and it offers solid acceleration and decent gas mileage. As in other Ford vehicles, the steering in the Focus is very accurate and has a propensity to snap back to center quickly after a turn. The Focus has a good track record in terms of crash-test results, with an IIHS rating of "Good" or better. Its antilock brakes, traction control and electronic stability system are standard. The Focus's trunk is roomy, measuring 13.2 cubic feet when the doors are open and 23.8 cubic feet with the seats folded. That's on par with some of its class competition, although the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla both offer more cargo space.
