The 2012 Nissan Xterra is a full-size SUV designed for serious off-roaders and rugged outdoor sports. Built on the same platform as the Nissan Titan pickup and Armada SUV, it features a fully boxed all-steel ladder frame, a double-wishbone front suspension with stabilizer bars, a solid axle leaf spring rear suspension and Bilstein high-performance gas shocks. Xterra models come standard with an automatic transmission, four-wheel antilock disc brakes and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). All models also feature an electronic locking differential for optimum traction in adverse conditions. Inside, the Xterra cabin feels very spacious for an SUV and offers enough room to haul passengers and their gear. The 60/40 split fold-down second-row seat provides plenty of legroom, as does the available fold-down front passenger seat. There's plenty of storage in the interior, with a dual glove compartment, a large cargo area and an adjustable Utili-track Cargo Channel System in the floor.
