Nissan's Murano sits between the compact Rogue and the larger Pathfinder in its mid-size crossover lineup, but it feels more like a luxury-badged vehicle than many competitors. With its smooth V6 and upscale cabin, it's certainly an attractive alternative to other crossover SUVs. The 260-hp Murano's powerful V6 engine uses advanced technology to deliver responsive acceleration and refined confident control. A sophisticated Xtronic CVT handles shifting duties and does so better than most other CVT vehicles, keeping engine revs low when cruising, then raising them quickly for passing. Inside, the Murano's high-quality materials and classic design are impressive. The 7.0-inch color monitor includes voice recognition, SiriusXM NavTraffic and NavWeather and Zagat restaurant guides, along with Bluetooth streaming audio. The standard auxiliary audio input, dual-zone automatic climate control and leather seats and a heated steering wheel give the Murano plenty of comfort. The SL adds rain-sensing wipers, 20-inch alloy wheels and a power liftgate. It also features a power-return rear seatback and heated front seats.
