The Chevy Equinox is a five-seat, four-wheel-drive compact SUV that offers easy carlike handling, plenty of cargo space and a comfortable ride. The 1.5-liter turbo-4 provides a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency, producing 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and is EPA-rated at 27 mpg. The Equinox's seats offer good support and bolstering, making them ideal for long trips. A pair of seats in the rear can seat three passengers, and the two-section rear bench folds for extra cargo room. The Chevrolet Equinox's standard stability control, traction control, rearview camera and antilock brakes are all rated excellent by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
